Founded by Andrea Page in Toronto Ontario Canada FITMOM has developed a reputation for being a challenging, safe and effective program for one of the most important times in a womans life. Motherhood. During pregnancy the health of the mother and baby are magnified through exercise, proper nutrition and reducing stress. Until recently pregnancy and postpartum exercise was thought of as dangerous and potentially harming one's baby. However study by the ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynocologists) has changed that. Coupled with the research from reknowned OB/GYN specialst Dr. James Clapp III, science has proven that being active throughout pregnancy and in even postpartum can have lasting positive effects on your baby. Prenatal exercise can come in many forms and be beneficial. Low impact prenatal aerobics can be done postnatally for cardio. Prenatal and postnatal weight training can be used to develop strong muscles and joints. Pilates can be done while pregnant or postnatal for long lean muscles and stretching as well. Prenatal pilates also has the added benefit of being very low impact and a safe way to transition throughout your pregnancy. Prenatal yoga and postnatal yoga are also quite beneficial for learning breathing and stretching techniques.
FITMOM'S program rests on a combination of resistance training and aerobic exercise. Although that is its core program it encompasses so much more than that as well. All of our trainers have certifications with recognized governing bodies as well as additional training in prenatal and postnatal exercise. Personal training services allow you to have the benefit of a trainer coming to the location of your choice. You can have a trainer come to your home, office or gym to provide a personalized program tailored to meet your individual needs and fitness objectives. FITMOM personal trainers strive to realize and address the demanding lifestyles of moms and advocate the benefits and gains of exercise during pregnancy and beyond. Your trainer will monitor your program closely and provide you with the guidance necessary to optimize your fitness gains within the context of your busy lifestyle. Babies are welcome at all home sessions and at gyms and offices where safe conditions can accommodate this. SPECIALTY TRAINING Pregnant women on bed rest: With doctors guidance many women on bed rest can receive benefits from exercise programs designed to work around contraindications or limited exercise guidelines. Postpartum Mother: Looking for results based programming. FITMOM postnatal personal programs are very much based on creating an atmosphere to foster results. In motherhood we are faced with time constraints and challenges that require problem solving and dynamic programming to make sure your time is well used. Pregnant and postpartum Athlete: Working with the pregnant and new mom athlete is something FITMOM feels passionate about. Many of our trainers are competitive athletes and moms combined with theoretical and practical experience.
