FITMOM 2 BE

FITMOM 2 BE class is designed for women wanting to stay healthy during pregnancy. The objective is to maintain a healthy and strong physical state for one of the most challenging 9 months of your life. By increasing muscular balance and cardiovascular endurance a well-trained pregnant woman goes into labor with an advantage that will help her endure the physical demands of delivery.


BENEFITS TO THE MOM :

Expectant moms can benefit from exercise during pregnancy by experiencing less susceptibility to constipation, swelling, leg cramps, varicose veins, fatigue, and extra weight gain. Postural improvements result from exercise causing reduced back pain. Exercise also helps to improve circulation, and reduce pelvic and rectal pressure. Research from New York university indicates that active prenatal women in the 1st trimester reduce the likelihood of miscarriage by up to 40%
Exercising pregnant women have an overall feeling of wellness, confidence and self-esteem. FITMOM 2 B will give hope in the journey of having a healthy body and a healthy baby.

BENEFITS TO THE BABY :

  • Increased delivery of oxygen and nutrients to babies of exercising mothers.
  • Higher APGARS scores APGAR =(Activity / Pulse / Grimace / Appearance / Respiration) which means they are generally more alert, and active.
  • Easier time establishing breastfeeding.
  • Tend to have more lean muscle mass, which means generally speaking these babies will be stronger.

FITMOM advocates exercise during pregnancy, we recognize that there are contraindications to exercise in pregnancy that are outlined by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (A.C.O.G).

FITMOM RECOMENDS THAT ANYONE WHO IS PREGNANT CHECK WITH THEIR DOCTOR BEFORE ENGAGING IN ANY TYPE OF EXERCISE PROGRAM. 

YOGA 4 BIRTH (Formerly YogaBellies)
Yoga is a proven and powerful transformative practice that integrates body, mind and spirit. You will learn gentle asana (postures) to open, stretch and strengthen your changing body. You will also learn yoga postures that emulate labor positions and help make labor most effective. FITMOM BIRTH YOGA will teach you breathing techniques which will be useful in managing pain and creating a focused and relaxed state of mind for labor and delivery. Practicing in class and at home will prepare you for labor and delivery while maintaining your current level of fitness. Posture modifications for each trimester will be learned. Practicing yoga during pregnancy can enhance the union between mother and child through visualization and meditation.

PRENATAL YOGA AND INTIMACY SERIES FOR COUPLES

Postures that promote intimacy and relaxation through touch and closeness. This workshop is also designed to help partners learn supportive, loving ways to connect through labor and delivery. Topics covered will be:

  • Stages of labor and delivery and more.
